This section is geared more towards the advanced users, but please give it a try anyway!
Each section or layer will repeat each of the following steps before moving on to the next layer.
Save your image often - after every few steps or so.
Step 9
Re-activate layer number two, go to your "selections" tab and "select all", back to "selections" tab
again and select "float" then "defloat" now you will see the marching ants around the selected layer.
Now go to your layers tab & duplicate layer.
Step 9a
If you want to add some darker or lighter shading effects go to your airbrush tool (looks like a spray can) and set the
opacity to 40%, density and thickness100%and hardness to 0%.
Then pick a color either lighter or darker than it is now and spray lightly over the areas you want highlighted.
(Don't worry if it looks awful right now because we are going to blur it.)
Step 9b
Next go to effects (psp7) or adjust (psp 8,9,X) go to blur and then gaussian blur and put settings somewhere between
5 and 18 depending how much you want it to soften up. Close all layers except the active layer and it's duplicated layer,
go to the layers tab again and merge visible layers only then go back to your layers tab & duplicate that layer again.
Step 9c
Let's rename these layers, we will call the active bottom layer, "layer3", and the active top layer, "layer4"
Now close layer 3 for a minute and make layer 4 your active layer. Go to your effects tab and then
3d effects and select Cutout
(settings are shown below but I suggest making up your own settings)
Step 9d
Now close layer 4 for a minute and re-activate layer 3 as your active layer
Go to your effects tab and down to 3d effects and select InnerBevel
(settings are shown below but I suggest making up your own settings)
Now, reactivate layer 4 so that only layer 3 and layer 4 are visible. If satisfied with the look of the two
layers together then go ahead and merge visible only the two active layers.
Step 10
Now close that layer and open the next layer you want to work on, click on it to activate it.
Repeat all the steps in step 9 with each of the layered selections until complete.
Except for the bottom layer - which should still be the original black and white image.
Hooray! We are almost done!
These next steps are the final touches to re-enhance the black lines and color depth
Step 11
First re-activate all layers open again and save your image "in layers" in a psp format.
Now close all layers except the black and white image.
If you accidently deleted it or used it, don't worry! Remember the extra copy you made in the
beginning of this tutorial that you minimized? You can use that copy if needed.
Our goal here is to completely remove the color white from the coloring page so only the black lines are visible.
There are several ways to do this!
You can use your select similar tool found under the selections/modify tab or you can use the select color tool
found under the same tab. There is another way to do it if you are using the PSPX version!
This is called the background eraser tool, just click on it and then click on the color
you want to eliminate and adjust the settings.
Place the outlined copy as a new layer on top of your new colored in picture.
Line it up to match exactly, merge visible, and adjust the size of the image to your liking.
Step 12
Plug-in Effects
Go to your Effects tab scroll down to plug-ins and select the tool "Xero" and select "Porcelain"
keep the default settings except the brightness raise up to 140 and select apply.
You can also use the "Radiance" in "Xero" to give it a shadowed in look and to alter the depth of the colors used.
Just hit the random button and then play with the settings to find the look you want.
Step 13
Add a little noise
Go to your adjust tab select the add/remove noise -add noise - and settings at uniform and 8 -12
Step 14
Now with all layers active go to your layers tab and Merge layers as "Merge Visible"
Export to your tubes folder to make your tube and then save this copy in a .png format.
You can resize the image to your liking, sharpen if needed, add extra tubes, create a background, whatever you want!
